Caught my mom stealing shoes

funniest part is that she got the haircut AND the clothes

The Iggy Vs. Nicki thing is the most interesting thing to happen to rap music since all the controversy surrounding Yeezus

jonesydaking:

It gives us something to fight for. The two most visible rappers in the game are killing the charts right and they both are women. Its like watching Little Richard vs ppl stealing his music in real time. Iggy comes out with “Fancy” and becomes a big hit and collabs with Pop artists while Nicki Minaj goes back to her roots of street rap with “Lookin Ass Nigga” and “Chiraq”. Nicki also threw some shots Iggy’s way during her Awards speech at the BET Awards; Then Nicki decides to destroy the internet with “Anaconda” then Iggy and Jennifer Lopez break the internet again with the “Booty” music video. We are are watching these two one up each other. The Rap internet is in a frenzy and I will probably always remember this moment in Pop music. I really want to see how far this will go and what will be the endgame. Will Nicki Minaj’s next album be the biggest of her career? Will Iggy Azalea follow up with an even bigger album with more hit songs? Will Iggy Azalea be the breaking point where record labels realize White rappers are better for business? Will Nicki open doors for more like minded Black Female MCs? Or will this battler end with these two finally collaborationg and we argue for months on who had the better verse (it will probably be Nicki but some People are going to stand by Iggy’s verse no matter what)?

I’ll just wait and see.

Why is it harder for Black music to crossover in 2014 than in 2004?

jonesydaking:

I’m trying to figure out what happened to ‘Black’ music’s commercial appeal in those 10 years. The 12 songs that were the #1 song were Hip Hop/R&B songs. Usher became the first (and still only) Black artist to go Diamond in the digital age. What happened?

Ciara had a legit comeback with her last…

Context:Back then black music covered so much that EVERYONE could relate. Today its so one sided it only appeals to one mindset. It no longer moves

The Reliability factor is kind of BS tho. Because “Lifestyle” isn’t that much different than say Laffy Taffy (billboard #1 song) or Lean Back (another #1 song). And Paranoid really isn’t too much of a stretch from ‘Yeah’. I mean “Body Party” by Ciara is very similar to her other songs that were bigger hits (1,2 Step, Goodies) but why didn’t it get the same type of traction those records got?

Black people been making House Music for years but how does Disclosure’s “Latch” become a huge hit in the States when Azaliea Bank’s like minded records can’t even get on any kind of American radio? The records of today aren’t too much different than past records to be honest with you.

(Thank you for pointing out that Watts was likely arrested because she refused to show her ID. Judging by the actions of officers I know, the one with them probably intended to do no more than ID them and ask them to leave, as that's usually more than enought to get the job done. This wouldn't be on the news if she complied... The media is making loads of cash on cop abuse right now, it's not far fetched to say most articles stretch the truth to make a profit. Isn't that obvious?)

Idk about all that but I can’t wait for the story to be over and done with

Will you be seeing 'Dear White People' next month?

My baby Ashley Blaine Featherson is in it so of course I am. But I have a bad feeling the film is going to be filled with respectability politics and some anti-black nationalism themes that I might not be here for
